A Credible Step Forward in Leslie Simulation

Viscount Legend Soul Update 1.06

I’ve been playing clonewheels for a long time, and while they’ve come a long way, there’s always been something missing — especially in the Leslie simulation. It’s often the high end that falls short: too thin, lacking warmth, or just not convincing in how the sound moves and breathes.

Recently, Viscount released a software update for the Legend Soul, featuring a completely rebuilt Leslie sim — and I’ve been exploring what it can do.

What stood out to me immediately was the depth and body in the high frequencies — something I’ve personally found lacking in many clonewheel sims. This new update brings more stereo dimension, natural rotor movement, and a more dynamic response to your playing. No, it’s not a real Leslie cab — but within the world of hardware clonewheels, this is the most credible simulation I’ve heard so far.

It was first introduced at NAMM on the Legend One, the single-manual model, but the same software is available for the full Legend series, including the Legend Soul.

A big thanks to Pat Bianchi, who walked me through the technical details of this update and helped me understand what’s really changed under the hood.

If you play a Legend, or you’re simply into the Hammond world like I am, this one’s definitely worth checking out.
